UPDATE: One person dead in house fire outside New Carlisle

One person is dead after a large house fire in Bethel Twp., just east of New Carlisle on Friday morning.

The two-story house fire on the 11100 block of Milton Carlisle Road was reported at 8:58 a.m., Bethel Twp. Assistant Fire Marshal Keith Hawkins told the News-Sun. The two residents had just moved into the home on the large Evans Ranch property Thursday night.

Hawkins said one resident was inside the house, but the fire department was unable to make safe entry to try to find them when they arrived to fight the blaze. He said the other resident was not home at the time of the fire.

“It would be a difficult entry due to the amount of fire that was involved,” Hawkins said.

The state fire marshal and Clark County Sheriff’s Office are handling the investigation, Hawkins said. The name of the person who died in the fire was not released Friday.

Assistant Fire Chief Chris Ludwick said the residents had not yet unpacked and “everything is like, right inside the doors,” also complicating entry.

Multiple fire divisions and tankers responded to the scene, including Bethel Twp., Wright-Patt, Huber Heights and Pike Twp.
